Sorry about the grapic heavy post but ther is just so much to show in this crazy quilt ! It is dated 1874 and is made by a Mrs. G.O. Brown. It must have taken this lady years to do all of the embroidery on this quilt, it's just amazing !! I know this quilt inspires me and I hope that it also inspires those of you who read my blog , thanks to everyone who has stopped by :)

Wow !

Two post in one day, it's been awhile since I have been able to manage that :) Well I got alot done today - of the 20 blocks on my Sampler Quilt I was able to get 6 of them quilted. I hope to have this monkey off of my back by Monday or Tuesday. I was also able to get 2 more seams done on my Fall C.Q. , it felt good to get away from the sewing machine for a bit to do some hand stitching.
Over at Stitchin Fingers some of us ( me being one of those some ) have decided to revisit Sharon B's 100 stitches. I think that this will really inspire me to kick this Fall C.Q. in the butt and get it done. I have decided on a layout for my Fall quilt. I am going to do 20 blocks and then add a a red 2 inch border around that, after the red border I will add a 6 inch crazy quilted border followed by a 4 inch black border. This will give me a very nice sized wall hanging. Well almost 3 blocks done only 17 more to go LOL, I wonder how much I can get done before classes start up again this Fall? I am kinda dreading to see school start back in again, it takes everything I have to do school, work and the dogs. I really wish that there were more hours in one day :) However as for school I have some wonderful news, finial grades were posted yesterday, I have an A in both History and English. I am so happy, I was really having a hard time in English and was wondering if I was going to pass it but I did so I don't have to worry about having to retake the course.

Beads for Crazy Quilting

I have recently been asked where I buy my seed beads for my crazy quilts at. I buy them from a seller on Ebay. The seller is Barrel Of Beads and they carry any colour you could ever want and better yet they sell by the gram. A gram of seed beads works out to about 200 -250 beads. Plenty for about any project I do. Here is a link to their Ebay store -

I have finally found my camera :) Later on I will post pic's of the little mouse pincushions that I made the other day. Today I am going to try to finish quilting my sampler quilt and if there is enough time left over I would like to do a couple more seams on my Fall block. I have the little bear completed and I'll try to remember to post some photo's of him also.

Bear Progress and a seam

I just couldn't help but to post a progress pic of my bear. He is very little, I'll post an exact measurement when I get him completed. I am stitching him with one strand of DMC. My camera was being a wee bit cranky when I took the photo of the seam. I just love these little flowers, they each have a size 11 purple bead in their center.

Stitchin Finger's

I just wanted to give ya'll a heads up - Sharon B of In A Minute Ago has started a new forum and it looks like it will be just loads of fun . You can find it at - http://stitchinfingers.ning.com/

please go check it out and join in if you wish, it's free to join. I will be posting some update pic's of my Fall block 3 , either later on tonight or tomorrow sometime . I found the cutest little bear pattern and I'm in the process of finishing him off :)

Another Fall Block

As promised here is block 3 of my Fall crazy quilt. I would love to find a beaver and a bear pattern to put on this crazy quilt, but so far no luck there :( I have added a few things to the previous two blocks and I'll post update pic's of them at some point this upcoming week. I still haven't decided what else I am going to embroider on this block, I'm thinking maybe a mushroom or some type of bird. If anyone knows of anywhere to find a good bear or beaver pattern please let me know :)

Ebay Win :)

I just won this book on Ebay tonight for a very cool 8.00 :) I want to add some SRE to my fall crazy quilt and I also have plans to do Isis a garden themed crazy quilt. Well I'm off to go hunt up some hand dyed ribbon now.

A bit of eye candy

I am cruising around ebay this evening as I can't sleep due to a very nasty double ear infection ( OUCH ! ). I came across this antique crazy quilt. It is from the 1820's/1830's. I love all the handstitched flowers on this. I need to do more things like this on my fall CQ I am working on. Right now I am working on block 3 of my Fall CQ , I really need to kick this project in the butt while I have summer break. I hope to at least finish 3 or 4 more blocks before college starts again in the fall. I will try to get photo's of the progress on the fall cq by Sunday or Monday.

Another Antique CQ

Here is another Antique C.Q. that I came across on Ebay. I fell in love with the setting on this one and may use a simalar setting for my Fall C.Q. Thought I would give ya'll a bit of eye candy tonight :)

A busy day

Well I had a busy day yesterday , however I was able to get the fans sewed together . I also had to drive to Leesville after work to get my books for this upcoming semester. I hope to be able to get this sewed to the background fabric today . I changed out a few of the fabrics as they just weren't working out , I really like it much better this way. I also have the second one to pick fabric's for and to stitch up , I hope to have that done by this weekend. I will make the bases of all the fans out of a neat wrinkled cream fabric that I have ( I hope that I have enough of it !! ) and they will be set on black fabric.

Some fan blades

Man this camera really stinks !! These fan blades look so much diffrent in person . The first blade is a dark cream fabric , the second is almost an olive color the third one is close to a light celery colour , the forth one is a really pretty royal purple and the last one is a very pretty medium green . I think I need to find some prints to go with these solids , I thought I would like it all solids but they really need something to spice them up.

Take It Futher Challenge

Over on Sharron B's blog there is a new challenge , it's called the Take It Futher Challenge and it is a spin off of her TAST series that she ran last year. On the first of each month she will post 2 options the first option will be a pallet of colours and the second option will be a theme. You can use any medium to work with . I think this may be fun . I didn't officaly sign up for the challenge because I'm afraid that with school and all I may not be able to keep up with everyone else. But I'm going to try to give it a shot , I really like the colours and the theme for this month .
And the theme is neat too , the theme is someone you admire/look up to. I had thought at first that I wanted to do a beaded journal page for this challenge using the theme but I really don't think that I will have the time because classes start on the 12th of this month . I think that I will use the colours and get back to work on my fan quilt. I think that if I try to apply the pallet to what I'm doing I will have a better chance of somewhat keeping up with the challenge. Well I'm off to go pull fabric for my fan block. I am gonna tag all the posts relating to this challenge with TIFC so be sure to keep an eye on my side bar.
Here is the addy to get more info about this challenge :)
Hugs Y'all

All I can say is WOW !!!

This quilt was made in 1883 by Lucy Zimmerman . I found it tonight on Ebay and man do I wish that I had an extra 500 -600 $ in my back pocket because this quilt would so be mine !!! It has such an intersesting layout . One day - if I ever have enough time - I would like to try to recreate it.
