I Want To Go Home !!

**Warning - this is a very whiny, feeling sorry for myself post **

I want to go home so bad, when I say home I mean back to Maine ! I have had this overwhelming urge for the last year or so and the past few weeks it's really driving me nuts. And when I say nuts I really mean it, I can do nothing but obsess over this to the point where it is interfering with everyday normal life. I am finding it hard to go to sleep at night or to concentrate on anything other than how I can get us all back to Maine and I know it's not even a little bit possible at the moment. I want out of Louisiana and that's just so weird as I used to love it here ! I keep telling myself soon we will go but it's not helping :( For some reason I almost get the feeling that I *need* to be there ASPA, like something is fixing to happen. I know it makes no sense but that's just how it is. Am I going nuts ? It sure feels like it :(

Do you still have family there? Maybe you should go for a visit. I've learned when I get feelings like that not to ignore them but to try to find where they're coming from. Is there someone you're worried about or someone you need to call? Blessings, marlene

It is hard being away from the places you love. I grew up in Florida and Live in Alabama. I sure do miss it. I also miss my momma who is in New York. Haven't seen her in 4 years.

maybe you just need to get away for a bit to break up the monotony! perhaps a road trip, or a weekend getaway? that might brighten up your spirits until you can make the move happen :)
good luck!

Well, sometimes when you are an ex-pat - even if you still live in the same country :) you go through periods where you get really homesick - I think it's normal. Frustrating, but normal. A change of scenery might help. Or even something like going to some of your favourite places near where you live in Louisiana to remind yourself of the good things about it? Of course, August in Louisiana is probably not the best time to try to remind yourelf why you like it! Just think of the mosquitoes in Maine this time of year... Seriously, though, as an ex-pat myself, I do know what it's like, so you have my sympathy...

Maybe you could set a target date for going back or visiting, it then gives you a goal to aim for, which I find helps.

There's nothing worse than missing home and I hate it when I get those feelings that I need to be somewhere RIGHT NOW, but just can't do it (either because of commitments or money).

I keep meaning to take my camera downtown Gardiner and snap you a few shots, but every weekend it seems I have to go somewhere...though I think if I sent you shots of home right, it might make the homesickness infinitely worse!

Hang in, my dear - if you're meant to come home, the universe will make it so.

Boy, I can relate to what you are feeling and going through. For over 22 years we lived in Arizona & experienced normal ups and downs, but four years ago, I felt I was being pushed to move to Washington. Our home sold for the price I felt God told me it would, my husband got a job right away, we bought a home & I can't find work, the doctors I need are over 60 miles away and suddenly I feel we should go back to Arizona. Take a vacation to Maine & really decide if that is what you want, or are you running like I was. Email me, I will be glad to give you an internet hug!
